THURSDAY, JUNE 25
OPENING RECEPTION AT LAPIN BLEU
106A N. Graham Street, Chapel Hill

Come by Lapin Bleu, a.k.a. Dex Fest HQ, and start your weekend getting absorbed by Dex’s living memory. The bar features a year-round shrine dedicated to Dex and his family, including portraits, memorabilia, and a signed guitar. Grab a cocktail (or mocktail) and enjoy the art collections inside and covered patio outside. You can mingle with other Dex Fest attendees and reconnect with old and new friends alike. The bar opens at 1:00pm
JUST FOR DEX FEST: Owner and Photographer Mike Benson, long-time friend of Dex and the Romweber family, will be displaying some of his photos of Dex from over the years.
Don’t miss Jennifer Curtis and Friends performing from 7:30 - 9:30. Jennifer is an internationally acclaimed violinist who performs around the globe as a soloist and chamber musician. She’s also a composer and improviser. Jennifer met Dexter when she was young and collaborated and performed with him many times during his life. She will be joined by accompanying local artists, Gabriel Pelli and Brent Shields.

Performances at Cat’s Cradle will take place on both the main and back room stages simultaneously. Start times for each stage will be staggered so that it is possible for attendees to see at least half of every performance. Arrive on time, you don’t want to miss a single act!

There will also be afterparties at the Cave on both Friday and Saturday nights after the shows at the Cradle. Keep the party going with local DJs spinning their record collections! 11pm-2am. Let’s keep the oldest bar in Chapel Hill alive and kicking- where Dex played and visited so many times. VIVA LA CAVE!

Join us at our favorite local bookstore for a special event on Saturday afternoon! We are thrilled to welcome Rob Miller, co-founder of Bloodshot Records, to talk about his recently published memoir, The Hours Are Long, But The Pay Is Low. Bloodshot Records released 3 albums by Dex and Sara Romweber (as Dex Romweber Duo), between 2009 and 2014.
Miller will be discussing his book along with David Menconi, a local journalist, author, and friend of Dex Fest. We are so excited to be able to bring you this event and to witness these two magnificent writers of the music community talk about their experiences with Dexter and more!

Join us at yet another of Chapel Hill’s iconic independent venues for the Dex Fest wrap party on Sunday! The event will be held all afternoon and will feature a community meal, a collaborative art installation, story sharing, and a hoppin’ dance floor.
You can get your hair-of-the-dog after the weekend of partying at 506’s full bar; or support the venue otherwise by buying their merch or planning to attend an upcoming show! Be sure to tip your bartender generously!
All are welcome to participate in the surprise community art project, where individual attendees will be able to contribute to a larger finished product honoring Dex and the music community he helped drive and thrive.
There will be a surprise special guest DJ playing nostalgic tunes from Carrboro and Chapel Hill in the 90s and 2000s; along with whatever else their heart desires.
There will also be a microphone available on stage for selected individuals to share a story or original song about the Romweber family. email [email protected] to be considered for this opportunity.
